Great Valley Energy was founded in February 2006 by seasoned renewable energy entrepreneurs and investors.  Great Valley Energy is building an advanced biofuels and renewable chemicals company based on a sugar and biomass platform using Sweet Sorghum and Sugarcane.   We are applying demonstrated and proprietary technology to provide a clean and efficient alternative to energy and chemical products derived from petroleum or corn. 

While the Renewable Fuels Standard (“RFS2”) demands 21 billion gallons of domestic biofuels that are advanced, beyond corn, competition remains constrained as commercialization continues to elude cellulosic ethanol researchers.  GVE will fill the growing market gap in the RFS2, providing sugars which can be converted to ethanol and other fuels (e.g. diesel, jet) using existing and developing technologies.  In addition to biofuels, and similar to a petroleum refinery, GVE’s biorefineries will have the potential to convert a sweet sorghum feedstock into multiple product streams such as bioactive compounds, specialty chemicals, structural building materials, and other value-added products targeted to diverse markets.
